Rob’s BIG Walk – Sunderland

Rob’s BIG Walk – Sunderland

9th July 2019

The ever popular BIG Walk in Sunderland returned again this year on Sunday 30th June, with one of our own lacing up his walking boots and taking part.

Rob Cogdon, who is one of our very talented Case Handlers in Durham, set off on the gruelling 11 mile walk from Herrington Country Park through the beautiful river Wear Valley and Penshaw Monument, stopping only briefly to take in the spectaular scenery and countryside views, managed to successfully complete the walk in just under 4 hours.

Rob was raising money for the wonderful Mind – The Mental Health Charity, and set himself a target of £250. On choosing this charity, Rob said “Sadly, mental health related suicides/attempted suicides have increased over the years and without charities like Mind many individuals are struggling to speak out and seek the help which is so greatly needed in order to overcome the struggles and adopt a more stable mental health as a whole.

Even today, anxiety and depression is so common yet it is still a taboo subject, therefore we need charities like Mind to continue its support of mental health. We must always remember to speak up and speak out”.

In total, Rob has so far raised a magnificent £355 with donations still coming in. Well done to Rob and all of those that took part, we’re very proud!
